“In our effort to redress the injuries inflicted on us we came to appreciate how undeveloped this area of the law is, and how victims of domain theft face an unmarked and totally uphill battle to get a remedy. Today’s sentencing helps to define a path for other victims and law enforcers to follow, and reinforces the likelihood that the theft of a domain can and will be prosecuted.” (July 22, 2011; Sentencing of Goncalves to 5 years in prison for stealing domain name)

May 3-6, 2010: Screenshots of Stolen Domain Name of the World ReligiousTravel Association

Below are screenshots of the stolen domain name of the World Religious Travel Association as it appeared from May 3-6, 2010.
The World Religious Travel Association (WRTA) invested thousands of dollars in its company domain name of ReligiousTravelAssociation.com and obtained a #1 Google search ranking for popular keyword searches and phrases such as "religious travel".
The company email addresses and email accounts were all attached to this domain name. Domain thieves intercepted and stole WRTA's email communications.
WRTA had paid for the company domain name of ReligiousTravelAssociation.com through Oct 28, 2010 via GoDaddy.com.
Due to the theft of its company domain name, emails, database and other related company assets, WRTA had to file for Ch. 7 bankruptcy in Jan 2011 - just 8 months later following the dates of the screenshots below.
To date, those responsible for theft of WRTA's domain name, emails and related company assets have not yet been brought to justice.
This blog (www.criminalizedomaintheft.com) is dedicated to seeking an investigation by the FBI and law enforcement authorities of those responsible for conspiracy and computer crimes against the World Religious Travel Association.

Screenshots of Stolen WRTA Database and Thieves E-communications (2009-2010)

Not only did the World Religious Travel Association deal with theft of its company website and email accounts and emails - but WRTA also dealt with theft of its own company database of prospect contacts. Subsequent to this database theft, the thieves accessed/utilized the proprietary information contained in the database and began communicating with the contacts.

The FBI should investigate and determine what laws were broken by the thieves in committing the above actions such as possible violation of privacy rights/laws, etc.

Here's a timeline regarding theft of WRTA's database along with a few other actions by thieves:

January 2010
+ Domain thieves permanently barred authorized WRTA's personnel from accessing the stolen domain and website of ReligiousTravelAssociation.com

+ Domain thieves cybersquatted 16 WRTA-related domain names

+ Domain thieves stole WRTA's company prospect database.

Years 2009-2010
+ Domain thieves communicated with contacts from WRTA's stolen database.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR?

My notes on the following 4 images are pretty-self explanatory. In general though, here are key things to look for:

Image #1
+ The Faith Tourism Kit and webpage lists the World Religious Travel Association as the Copyright holder with All Rights Reserved.

+ Anyone who signups and registers their contact information to access the Faith Tourism Kit is doing so in order to communicate with and receive information directly from the World Religious Travel Association.

Image #2
+ This is the "first" email sent by WRTA to a Faith Tourism Kit registrant.

Image #3 - #4
+ These emails are subsequent communications to Faith Tourism Kit registrants by database thieves.

+ As seen in these emails, among other things - domain/database thieves:
1) Removed all references to the World Religious Travel Association.
2) Utilized WRTA's stolen domain name and email accounts to communicate with database contacts.
3) Replaced contact info and official Colorado mailing address of WRTA with a California mailing address of database/domain thieves' own choosing.

Status/Screenshots of WRTA's Stolen Domain Name on March 31, 2010

The domain thieves who stole the official website of the World Religious Travel Association (ReligiousTravelAssociation.com) were very calculating in their many moves and actions with the stolen domain name.

Subsequent to the interception of emails on Jan 19, 2010 (and theft of the prior 6 months of WRTA emails), the domain thieves then took deliberate action to destroy evidence of their cyber-footprints/cyber-thumbprints. To achieve this, they deleted and sold the stolen domain name a full 8 months prior to its natural expiration date of Oct 28, 2010.

The deletion and selling of the stolen domain occurred from Feb 2010-March 2010.

Based on records, it appears the domain thieves utilized several services such as NameJet.com and InTrust Domains to delete, backorder and sell the stolen domain name.  Furthermore, it appears the domain thieves sold the stolen domain name to themselves and/or reacquired it in some form, and then utilized InTrust Domains as their "sponsoring registrar". The FBI can investigate this and determine exactly what the domain thieves did with the stolen domain name of the World Religious Travel Association.

What is a Sponsoring Registrar?
Sponsoring Registrar: The registrar that currently administrates the name on behalf of the registrant. If the domain name was registered by a reseller, the reseller's name will not appear in the Sponsoring Registrar field. Instead, you will see the reseller's registrar.

Below are the records and status of the stolen domain name on March 31, 2010.  This is the date in which the stolen domain name had been "re-registered" in the name of someone else. Just to recap the 7 days leading up to this date, here's the timeline:
* March 25, 2010: "Pending delete" of stolen domain name
* March 26, 2010-March 30, 2010: NameJet.com, a backordering service, lists the stolen domain name
* March 31, 2010: The stolen domain name is "created" on this date and lists "InTrust Domains" as the Registrant Organization.

Who is InTrust Domains? They had been an accredidated registrar service/company. However, on April 27, 2012, ICANN sent a letter advising that InTrust Domains is in breach of Registrar Accredidation Agreement: http://bit.ly/InTrustDomainsICANN.

Here are images of the stolen domain name (ReligiousTravelAssociation.com) as of March 31, 2010 - the date in which the stolen domain name had been illicitly deleted, sold and placed in a sponsoring registrar's name.

Domain Thieves, NameJet.com and Backordering of WRTA's Stolen Domain Name (March 2010)

Subsequent to Jan 19, 2010 interception of emails, the domain thieves in Feb-March 2010 deleted WRTA's stolen domain name a full 8 months prior to its natural expiration date.

In March 2010 the stolen domain name of ReligiousTravel Association.com was sold and registered anew.

Domain Thieves and NameJet.com in Relation to WRTA's Stolen Domain Name (March-April 2010)

The FBI and law enforcement authorities should investigate the following regarding the domain thieves actions in Feb-March 2010 in relation to the stolen domain name of ReligiousTravelAssociation.com - the official website of the World Religious Travel Association.

1) Did the domain thieves utilize NameJet.com in in their ongoing permanent theft of the World Religious Travel Association's domain name and website (ReligiousTravelAssociation.com)?

2) Did the domain thieves utilize NameJet.com in reacquiring WRTA's stolen domain name?

3) Why did the domain thieves delete WRTA's stolen domain name in Feb-March 2010 a full 8 months prior to its natural expiration date and then seek to reacquire it during the same time period (Feb-March 2010)?
