“In our effort to redress the injuries inflicted on us we came to appreciate how undeveloped this area of the law is, and how victims of domain theft face an unmarked and totally uphill battle to get a remedy. Today’s sentencing helps to define a path for other victims and law enforcers to follow, and reinforces the likelihood that the theft of a domain can and will be prosecuted.” (July 22, 2011; Sentencing of Goncalves to 5 years in prison for stealing domain name)

Now, as we go to press, another organization has been created for those who are interested in the religious travel market. The World Religious Travel Association (WRTA) represents the combining of forces of two leading groups, the Religious Market Consulting Group and Christian Travel Finder.

“WRTA’s overall mission is simple and clear,” said Kevin J. Wright, executive director of WRTA. “We will advise and assist the travel industry in working with the religious market, and establish faith-based vacations as a key travel option for the religious consumer.”

You can read about the organization in our cover story, and if you have more questions, be sure to check out the WRTA Web site at www.religioustravelassociation.com. This is an opportunity no agent can afford to pass up. K.S.

Article #2 from above (Traveling on Faith). Note: The "Contact info" listed below in the selected text was also part of the original story and included below as such.

If agents would rather stay closer to home, they can go online and check out the World Religious Travel Association (WRTA), which officially launched Jan. 29. The organization, dedicated to the religious travel industry, offers agents education and networking opportunities.

Additionally, come September 2008, the first annual World Religious Travel Expo is expected to host over 1,000 exhibitors and attendees from various segments of the religious travel industry, such as tour operators, wholesalers, churches, clergy and religious nonprofit organizations.

With these training options available, travel agents need not be overwhelmed many sites of religious significance have stayed the same for centuries, so the product line-up for faith-based travel is relatively finite.

Five days prior to the public announcement by WRTA of the launch of the association and its website/domain name (see previous post), a pre-press release news story was written and published on Jan 22, 2007.

Especially important is the following statement provided in the news story below about WRTA's official company website/domain name:

Industry veterans launch trade association for religious travel
By David Cogswell
(1/22/2007)

The travel industry will have one more trade association beginning Jan. 29, when the World Religious Travel Association makes its debut.

In a business already crowded with acronyms, the founders of the new group, Kevin

Wright, executive director, and Honnie Korngold, vice president, are not worried that
there isn't room for another travel association.

"Kevin and I both see how healthy and robust this whole market is," said Korngold.
"Even with the very little that we've been able to talk about it, we're getting calls from
people who we don't know where they found out about us. People say, 'This is
great! It's very timely. We were thinking about getting into this market.' "

Wright, the author of several books on religious travel, was instrumental in building
the religious market for Globus, working as the company's religious travel manager.
Last fall, he left Globus to start his own consulting company and started planning for
the association.

Wright estimated the religious travel market worldwide is $18 billion a year and
growing.

The mission of the new association, he said, is "to lead, enrich and expand the
religious travel industry."

The association will cater to travel agents, travel suppliers and consumers, with a
heavy emphasis on education, Wright said.

"One of the most important things is relevant and up-to-date educational tools," said
Korngold, founder and president of Christian Travel Finder, a travel agency that
deals strictly with religious travel.

"I've been involved in a lot of associations whose educational programs are a little
behind the curve, a little less than relevant. With something like the market of
religious travel, which is so new, so fresh, we want to be as relevant to the moment
as possible."

Wright and Korngold consider themselves old-timers in the world of religious travel
and are undaunted by the implications of starting a new organization and making it
work.

"Both Kevin and I have been involved in a number of associations," said Korngold.
"All throughout our careers, we've been involved in conferences, expos, speaking
and teaching. It gives you a good idea which are effective and which are not. Now,
given the opportunity, we want to be as effective as possible, with high value for the
membership."

Korngold has spent a lot of her career working as director of the conference ministry
for the Campus Crusade for Christ.

"I've directed 6,000 events," she said. "I'm very comfortable with knowing the
thought process that goes with these events."

The association will offer various levels of membership for consumers, travel agents
and suppliers. Consumers may take a free membership or a $50-a-year
membership, which confers more benefits. Memberships for tour operators, cruise
lines and wholesalers range from $1,000 to $10,000. Supplier memberships range
from $750 a year to $6,000 a year.

The trade group's Web site has been launched at http://www.religioustravelassociation.com/ and is being loaded with content, according to Wright.

The selection of advisory board members is under way and should be completed by Jan. 20.

Wright said he was in talks with several religious travel providers to establish the charter membership of the organization.

2007 (Jan 29) WRTA's Press Release Announcing Official Launch of the World Religious Travel Association (WRTA) and its Company Websites/Domain Names

The founding and public launch of the World Religious Travel Association was synonymous with the public launch of it's official company domain names/website addresses (ReligiousTravelAssociation.com and ReligiousTravelExpo.com). Below is WRTA's first press release dated Jan. 29, 2007.

It's also important to note that the press release below received tremendous coverage throughout the travel media both in North America and globally at the time of and subsequent to the release date. To this day, a Google search for the press release below and/or the reporting of it, shows the official launch of WRTA and its company website addresses was a major news piece and remains a fixture on the Internet ever since.

$18 Billion Religious Travel Industry Gives Birth to International Association
Faith-based travel industry leaders launch World Religious Travel Association (WRTA)

Littleton, CO (PRWEB) January 29, 2007

Two of the most recognized faith-based travel industry authorities have launched the World Religious Travel Association (WRTA) (http://www.religioustravelassociation.com/ ) to advise, build and connect the $18 billion worldwide religious travel industry. Kevin J. Wright (President, Religious Market Consulting Group) and Honnie Korngold (President, Christian Travel Finder) have established the organization in response to the growing demand for faith-based vacations and the increasing number of tourism companies entering or expanding their presence within the industry.

“WRTA’s overall mission is simple and clear: We will advise and assist the travel industry in working with the religious market, and establish faith-based vacations as a key travel option for the religious consumer,” said Kevin J. Wright, Executive Director of WRTA.

The association comes at a pivotal stage in the burgeoning faith-based travel industry that, according to the World Tourism Organization (WTO), is one of the fastest growing travel segments. In November, 2006, the Travel Industry Association of America released survey findings that “one-quarter (25%) of travelers said they were currently interested in taking a spiritual vacation (e.g., religious retreat, pilgrimage), and that the appeal of a spiritual vacation spans the ages, with approximately one-third of each age group (18 – 34 years old, 35 – 54 years old and 55+) expressing current interest in taking such a vacation.” In October 2006, the International Conference on Religious Tourism (ICORET), held in Cyprus, estimated the size of the faith-based travel industry at $18 billion. In November 1998, the World Travel Market in London released research that identified faith-based travel as one of the top critical issues and trends in travel and tourism in the 21st century.

The World Religious Travel Association (WRTA) will serve as the primary organization dedicated to leading, enriching, and expanding the global faith-based travel Industry. With an initial focus on the North American religious market and consumer, the association plans to expand throughout the world as emerging markets mature and consumer demand increases. The three major goals of the association are:

  •     Advise and assist the worldwide travel industry in marketing, selling and developing product for the North American religious market and consumer.
  •     Build faith-based vacation and travel ministry opportunities for North American religious consumers.
  •     Connect the worldwide travel industry and the North American religious consumer (via various channels, venues and networking opportunities).

All seven segments of the $18 billion worldwide religious tourism industry are represented in the association: (1) Tour operators, cruise lines, and travel wholesalers (2) Travel suppliers and vendors (3) Travel agencies and consortiums (4) Religious suppliers and vendors (5) Churches and religious/non-profit organizations (6) Individuals and clergy (7) Media.

Among its many benefits, the new association will provide its members with the following market services and opportunities: leadership, networking, education, media (publicity), research, job market, advertising, consulting, travel ministry programs, and faith-based vacations. In addition, WRTA will promote every aspect of religious travel including escorted touring, cruising, missionary travel, adventure trips, FIT/Independent travel, attractions, retreats, conferences, and conventions/meetings. Memberships for the association include both trade and consumer, and feature a variety of level options. WRTA also will feature an Advisory Board, and is currently finalizing a select group of Charter Members.

WRTA also will launch the first-ever awards for the religious travel, tourism and hospitality industry. Winners will be announced in December, 2007 and will include categories such as “Tour Operator of the Year,” “Travel Agent of the Year,” “Religious Attraction of the Year,” “Religious Destination of the Year,” “Religious Travel Story of the Year,” “Religious Travel Professional of the Year,” and “Travel Ministry Program of the Year.” Beginning Jan. 29, members and non-members alike can place their votes at http://www.religioustravelassociation.com/.

In September 2008, WRTA will host its first annual World Religious Travel Expo. In addition to providing a full schedule of seminars, the Expo will offer an excellent opportunity for companies and organizations to showcase their religious tourism products and services to the trade and consumer. For churches, religious organizations and individuals, the Expo will provide a tremendous opportunity for visiting numerous companies and organizations involved in religious tourism and hospitality -- all within one setting. For the media, it will serve as “the event of the year” for reporting on the faith-based travel industry. The Expo (http://www.religioustravelexpo.com/) is expected to feature a sold-out crowd of more than 1,000 exhibitors and attendees from around the globe.

“Among our many initiatives, education will be at the forefront of the Association and Expo,” said Honnie Korngold, Vice President of WRTA. “Our goal is to not only educate the trade about faith-based travel, but also the consumer -- for example, educating pastors and religious group leaders themselves about the value and benefits of traveling together as a community.”

WRTA is now accepting membership applications. To learn more about the Association or to register your individual or organization membership, visit http://www.religioustravelassociation.com/ (all registrations are completed on-line). Or, you can call WRTA at 1-800-657-1288.

2008-2009: WRTA hired and invested in Web Media World to develop its website and domain name

WRTA invested thousands of dollars in the building, development, branding, marketing, sales and promotion of its company domain name http://www.religioustravelassociation.com/. Those who committed theft of WRTA's domain name did not.

WRTA hired Web Media World in 2008-2009 to develop its website. Here are two webpages from Web Media World referencing WRTA's investment in their company regarding the above domain name:

1) http://www.webmediaworld.com/testimonials.html (scroll down to 2nd testimonial on this page to view our company's testimony)

Per the above website, below is WRTA's testimonial and corresponding text and the listing of WRTA's domain name:

Absolutely outstanding! We will be using Web Media World for many more projects. We will also promote Web Media World to our clients and suppliers. Hiring Web Media World ranks among our best investments by our company.

2) http://www.webmediaworld.com/portfolio6.html (scroll down to the 3rd portfolio on this page to view the website developed by Wed Media World and paid for by WRTA)

Per the above website, below is what Web Media World wrote regarding their work on behalf of WRTA's website and domain name:

Type of Business: Religious Travels
.....................................................................................................................Time Line:
Four Weeks (In addition to the front-end,  We developed a CMS for the entire website as well)

The Need to Criminalize Domain Name Theft - and Make it the Law
As I state similarly elsewhere in this blog, if someone steals or diverts $1,000 from a company's bank account into their own account, the company's employees just simply pick up the phone and call the police and the thief is arrested. It is a criminal case, and in some states, since it's over $500.....it's a felony.

Yet when the same thief steals and diverts the company's website/domain name into their (i.e. GoDaddy.com) account - a website and domain name which has been invested in with thousands of dollars and therefore is a much greater financial loss to the company than the above $1,000 "stolen cash situation" - the above criminal element of the case and felony aspect has been bypassed through the years by law enforcement and up until the Gonclaves case. This is why Domain Name Theft must criminalized in the legal system/code and prosecuted as such.

Helpful websites regarding Cybercrime information such as Listcrime.com

As a victim of cybercrime, I've learned how important it is to know how and where to report such crimes and illicit activities. As such, I continue to learn more and more about great websites and resources that exist on the Internet and that one can turn to when you're a victim of cybercrime. However I've also learned (and experienced) that it can also be very hard to find such websites/resources, since often when you're a cybercrime victim you're not exactly sure what information you need to obtain and/or look for.

As I discover such helpful websites and resources, I will continue to post them in my blog. For example, here's one website and resource I recently came across: http://listcrime.com/

The above website provides various cybercrime information such as to whom (which federal investigative agency/ies) you should contact for certain types of cybercrimes. Here's a couple examples from the website: .
* Commercial Computer Intrusions should be reported to the U.S. Secret Service.
* Theft of trade secrets and/or copyright infringement should be reported to the FBI (local field office)

The website also provides a list of government agencies at http://listcrime.com/Governmentsites.html

So as mentioned, I will continue to "mine the Internet" for great websites and resources regarding cybercrime - and especially for victims of cybercrime.
